Past weekend the Instagram user @el_nova_1 introduces a challenge about a classic tiki drink: Navy Grog.
The challenge had easy rules, you have to publish a picture of a Navy Grog on Instagram and write the hashtag #navygrogchallenge2015 during the weekend. You can publish a pic of the drink that you have done, or the Navy Grog that you are drinking on a bar, or your own twists on the original recipe, or what you want related with the Navy Grog.
The original recipe was done by Don The Beachcomber circa 1941 and calls for: 3/4oz fresh lime juice, 3/4oz white grapefruit juice, 3/4oz soda water, 1oz honey mix, 1oz light Puerto Rican rum, 1oz dark Jamaican rum, 1oz Demerara rum.
My twist on the original recipe is:
- ¾oz Lime Juice
- ¾oz Grapefruit Juice
- ¾oz Ginger Beer
- 1oz Honey Mix
- 1oz Rougaroux Sugarshine
- 1oz Appleton State Extra 12 years
- 1oz El Dorado 21
- Shake with ice cubes.
- Strain into a double old fashioned glass with an ice cone with a straw.

If you want to take al look at all the pictures of this challenge you have to visit the hashtag #navygrogchallenge2015.
And for this weekend there’s another challenge: #fogcutterchallenge2015 with the same rules but there’s a prize for the best pic before monday!
Are you ready to drink Fogcutters???
