In my recent visit to Ron Montero Distillery they share with us a recipe created by their founder Francisco Montero: the Palito de Ron.
This recipe calls for use a Ron Pálido Montero, a 3 years aged rum, amber in color, clean and brilliant, which presents a delicate set of balanced aroma, with hints of honey, vanilla and oak from its time in virgin-oak Solera&Criadera system. It’ s a dry and smooth rum ideal for mix on slings, highballs and sour cocktails.
The Palito de Ron is a mix of that rum with 7up or another similar lime soda, with ice and pieces of cuted and peeled sugar cane. They shows me their ideal proportions to make a 1 liter jar of this drink: 200-300ml of rum(at taste) and 4 cans of 7up, but I wanted to adjust an individual serve size.
- 8cl Ron Pálido Montero
- 30cl 7up or lime soda
- Some pieces of sugar cane cuted and peeled (at taste)
- 2 ice cubes
- Put all the ingredients in a highball or tall glass.
- Stir with a bar spoon.
- Enjoy!!!
